Jeff Hannan (Partner) founded Strata Venture Partners in 2001. For over 20 years, SVP has worked on a wide range of venture development, investment, and advisory projects across industries including technology, financial services, consumer products, sports & entertainment, and education.

As an integral part of SVP’s strategy, Jeff has worked for over two decades on the forefront of social purpose venture development with a focus on youth development, job training, and education.  He began this work as a Farber Fellow with REDF (Roberts Enterprise Development Fund) in San Francisco, CA, and has worked extensively with the California Department of Education, the Jacobs Family Foundation’s Market Creek Community Ownership Initiative in San Diego, and Cal South Community Development Bank venture fund.

In addition, Jeff currently serves as an Instructor of Entrepreneurship in the UCLA UCExcelerator, and has previously served as an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship, Business Plan Writing, and Management at the University of Pennsylvania, UCLA – Anderson School, and Arizona State University FIDM.

Prior to founding Strata Venture Partners, Jeff worked as an investment banker and consultant with the firms Kidder Peabody, Wedbush Morgan, and Merrill Lynch where he focused on initial public offerings, secondary offerings, business valuations, and capital raising engagements.

Jeff received his BA from the University of Rhode Island, where he was a student-athlete and Kopp Foundation award winner; and holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management. While at UCLA, Jeff was awarded a Wolfen Entrepreneurial Studies Fellowship and served as a Program Manager for the UCLA Venture Development Program. As a Doctoral candidate at the University of Pennsylvania (ABD), Jeff has served as a Researcher and Instructor of Social and Educational Entrepreneurship.

Jeff and his wife Julie have three children and reside in San Marino, CA.  Jeff is an active member of his local community having served as a Board member for several educational, athletic and charitable organizations.
